The Mono Lake Volunteer program had a great 2015 season, with over 60 volunteers, the cooperation of a number of Mono Basin partners, and a generous grant from CalParks, all helping to make this long-standing program a successful one.
After such a great year, we are getting ready for the 2016 volunteer season! We are now recruiting volunteers for this coming summer. Volunteers are required to attend the half-day training sessions and are asked to donate roughly eight hours per month, June through August (on a flexible schedule). Participants must be at least 18 years old, be able to walk short distances, and stand for two hours.

In addition to training and volunteer graduation, Mono Lake Volunteers are welcomed into a friendly and engaged group of 60 fellow fans of Mono Lake—getting together for fun, educational, and Mono-Lake supportive activities throughout the year.
The Mono Lake Volunteer Program is a joint initiative sponsored by California State Parks (the Mono Lake Tufa State Natural Reserve), the US Forest Service, and the Mono Lake Committee, with support from the Eastern Sierra Interpretive Association and the Bodie Foundation. Volunteers have the opportunity to work with all of the partners. If you are interested in volunteering, or for more information, please contact me by email or at (760) 647-6595.

In 2015 the Mono Lake Volunteer program got some much-needed support from a grant from the California State Parks Foundation for general program support, field interpretation supplies, and new uniforms. Special thanks to the California State Parks Foundation for helping this valuable program continue and thrive!
