Starting Tuesday, March 27, the Mono Lake Committee Information Center & Bookstore storefront will begin to look quite different. The next phase of the outdoor remodel includes removing picnic tables, planters, and signs in order to tear up asphalt and prepare the storefront for some exciting new additions!
By mid-summer, we hope to have: an expanded retail space in the form of a patio, a wheelchair lift, amphitheater seating, a water bottle filling station, and a covered picnic area.
Until the construction is complete there will be a chain-link fence around the construction site for safety, both for the public and the workers. However, the Mono Lake Committee Information Center & Bookstore will remain open! Signs placed on the fence will guide visitors to the back entrance of the building (please go all the way to Third Street, take a left onto C Street, and look for signs directing you to the back door of our main building).
All of this is being done to attract more visitors to Mono Lake Committee to learn about and support Mono Lake! Check the Mono-logue for construction progress photos and updates.
And we can’t forget: a special thank you to Ed and Roy of Escoto Construction & Design for helping guide us through this complicated process. Also, thank you to the special donors who made this project possible!
