Runoff from last winter’s record snowpack has allowed Walker Lake to rise 15 feet so far this year. While there is still a long way to go before restoration of the lake’s native fishery can begin, it’s definitely time to celebrate!

On September 23, 2023 the Walker Lake Rehydration Celebration will take place at Monument Beach, about 12 miles north of Hawthorne, Nevada.

Monument Beach is 12 miles north of Hawthorne, Nevada.

Events will include:

  • Free canoe tours with Mono Lake Committee staff
  • Interpretive talks and walks about Walker Lake’s natural history and undecided future
  • Beach activities and a raffle with great prizes

Come check out the Great Basin’s least known and most endangered terminal lake.
