Every year the recognition and celebration of Earth Day seems to become increasingly more important. This year the theme of Earth Day is “Restore our Earth,” which echoes the Mono Lake Committee’s mission of protection, restoration, and education. While Earth Day is a global event, the community of Lee Vining is coming together to act locally here by the shore of Mono Lake on Thursday, April 22 at the Hess Park Solar Pavilion.
Mono Basin trash clean up – 9:00am–1:00pm
Come by the Solar Pavilion anytime after 9:00am and grab trash bags and grabbers, then head out to your favorite place in the basin to collect trash that has accumulated throughout the winter and early spring. Bags of trash can be returned to the Pavilion any time before 1:00pm for disposal.

Staff and volunteers from the Mono Lake Committee, 350 Mono Climate Action, and California State Parks will be hosting to make sure everyone is masked and social distancing. Whether you are a local who can attend in Lee Vining at this event, or you’re celebrating Earth Day in your own community, know that each action makes a difference.
