Some Notes About Cell Phone Coverage
in the Mono Basin

Without endorsing any particular service, our experience is that three carriers have "rural level" coverage, which is to say pretty good but not without gaps and drop outs. Expect to pull over if you are driving and don't want to lose a critical call! The carriers are: Verizon Wireless, Cellular One, and ATT Wireless (recently purchased by Cingular, but not sure how the systems interact). Generally, it's our experience that locals choose either Cellular One or Verizon. Where Verizon has service along Hwy 395 it is generally digital, in fact more so than their map suggests. Verizon doesn't cover June Lake in our experience.
