For Immediate Release

Restoration Days are here again! Join the Mono Lake Committee at Mono Lake for four fun-filled days of activities over Labor Day Weekend, September 3-6, 1999.

Restoration Days will be a time for exploring Mono Lake and the Mono Basin, looking for birds, investigating the new shoreline, learning about current Mono happenings and participating in restoration activities. If you come for one event or stay for the entire weekend, you’re sure to have a lot of fun!

Restoration Days start off with a reception at the Mono Lake Committee garden on Friday, September 3rd from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.. The weekend continues with bird watching tours, canoe trips, visits to Mono’s volcanoes, interpretive walks, an Aqueduct tour led by the Department of Water and Power, a workshop led by biologist Dave Herbst, and a basketmaking demonstration by Lucy Parker, a descendant of the Yosemite Miwok, Mono Lake Kuzedika’a, and Pomo peoples.

The Mono Basin is a very special place, and spending time along the lake’s shore, climbing the Mono Craters, sitting still and watching the birds, or venturing all around the Mono Basin can be inspiring and educational for all. Join us for a great time!

For more information or for a complete schedule of events, phone the Mono Lake Committee at (760) 647-6595, or check out their web page at www.monolake.org.
