The High Sierra Fall Century begins at the Whitmore Ball Fields, just east of U.S. 395 on Benton Crossing Road south of Mammoth Lakes. After following U.S. 395 north over Deadman Summit and into the Mono Basin Scenic Area, the course continues east on Hwy 120. This section of the ride is on a very lightly traveled road through a cool Jeffrey Pine forest over Sagehen Summit and down into Adobe Valley.
Both the 30- and 40-mile short course options start at Whitmore Ball Fields and head east on Benton Crossing Road in the opposite direction of the full century course. Riders can choose how many miles to pedal and how many hills to climb before turning around and returning to the finish at Whitmore Ball Field. Century riders may start between 7:30 and 9:00 a.m., and short course riders between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. The course will close at 6:30 p.m., and any riders remaining on the course will be transported to the finish at Whitmore Pool. The entry fee includes five fully stocked rest areas, roving SAG support, and a gourmet lunch at mile 55 catered by The Mono Inn at Mono Lake. Pre-registered riders will receive a T-shirt with their $35 for the century or $25 for the short options. Same-day registration will be allowed, although the fee will be $45 and $35 respectively, with no T-shirt. So, save September 18th and join in one of the fastest growing events in Mono County! If you dont want to ride but you want to participate in the fun, volunteers are always welcome.
