For Immediate Release
Join the Mono Lake Committee on Friday, May 22nd, as they host a reception for renowned photographer Dirk Kenyon. The reception will take place at the Mono Lake Committee Information Center & Bookstore in Lee Vining from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Light refreshments will be offered. Dirk Kenyons photography entertains the spirit and captivates the soul. One of Nevadas most prominent photographers, Kenyon is a graduate of Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California, and has dedicated most of his life to perfecting the art of enhancing reality through photography. Although Kenyons proficiency in photography is wide ranging, his ardor is most intense when he speaks of this scenic grand views shot in black and white infrared film. "I want people to look at my work and have an emotional responseto feel good, to have a distant memory exposed and relived", Kenyon recently said. Kenyon is convinced that infrared photography is more expressive than color because it leaves more to the viewers imagination. "People see what they want to see. My art is only a bridge to my audience. It allows me to communicate my vision to them. They should take it from there and fill in the details." Each of his images effectively illustrates his artistic desire to heighten awareness of and appreciation for the scenic beauty of the American West. By creating images that will survive the effects of time, Mr. Kenyon not only offers future generations a vision of how it was, but also challenges them with responsibility for the stewardship on the land to ensure how it will be. Dirk Kenyons photography is available for viewing and purchase at the Mono Lake Committee Information Center & Bookstore through July. The show is a collection of images from Death Valley, Bodie State Park, Yosemite and Mono Lake.
