Marketing Director Jim De Graffenreid For Immediate Release Get ready to roll The Third Annual High Sierra Fall Century is almost here! Join us on September 12th for a scenic and fully supported 100-mile bicycle ride. Not only will you spend a glorious day cycling, youll be participating in one of the Mono Lake Committees 20th Anniversary celebrations, helping protect and restore Mono Lake, and raising money for bicycle safety programs here in the Eastern Sierra. If 100-miles seems a bit long, then give it your best on the 30-mile version. Either way, there will be lots of food, fun and SAG vehicles to help you throughout the day. Your journey will start at the Whitmore ball fields, just east of U.S. 395 on Benton Crossing Road south of Mammoth Lakes. After following U.S. 395 north over Deadman Summit and into the Mono Basin Scenic Area, youll then continue east on Hwy 120 over Sagehen Summit and through Adobe Valley. When you get to Benton Crossing Road, go south over a few more climbs and back to Whitmore Pool, where youll be able to swim in the pool and enjoy Whiskey Creeks fabulous no-host bar-b-que! The century ride will start at 8 a.m., and the short course at 9 a.m. there are no early starts! The course will close at 6:30 p.m., and any riders remaining on the course will be brought to the finish. The entry fee ($35 pre-registration for 100 miles and $25 pre-registration for 30 miles) includes four well stocked rest areas, SAG support, event t-shirt and patch. And, there will be a raffle with great prizes in the afternoon! So, get your bike ready to go, and join the fun!
