For Immediate and Continuous Release Through April 25

On Saturday, April 25, the Mono Lake Committee will be coordinating a shorebird census around the entire Mono Lake shoreline. A rising lake level has resulted in significant changes along Mono’s shores. A shorebird census will help to monitor the changes in lakeshore habitat and shorebird response. Beginning to advanced birders are needed to participate. The count will begin at 6:30 AM in front of the Mono Lake Committee Information Center and Bookstore in Lee Vining. Bring water, snacks, binoculars and/or spotting scopes, pencil and notepad, appropriate clothing, and sun protection for the day. A 4WD vehicle is helpful. The count will last until mid-afternoon. If you are interested in participating, please call Bartshe Miller at 760.647.6595.
