This multi-year photography project will artistically document the effects of restoration in the Mono Basin.
GOAL: To establish a collective visual representation of a recovering Mono Basin ecosystem. Showing this collection will help others understand the importance of restoration through the eyes of photographers who have seen and captured the transition from degradation to watershed health.
Until now, most of the restoration monitoring of Mono Lake and the streams has focused on scientific data and analysis. But there is another component of the restoration story that needs to be told--one about the beauty of our recovering landscape. This project will begin to tell that story.
Each participant will select a site in the Basin that is personally meaningful to them and photograph it at least once a year. The Mono Lake Committee will organize the photos on our Website and track the project. As time goes on, a collection of photographs will accumulate that will show the effects of restoration activities. We will see the changes through our involvement with the project and will be able to share with others our unique discoveries.
