The
Mono Lake
Committee Information Center and Bookstore, located
in the town of Lee Vining, is a
great spot to stop and get your bearings regarding Mono
Lake. The friendly staff is always happy to answer
questions, help visitors plan their outings, and provide
chamber of commerce information. It is the headquarters
of the non-profit group working to obtain long-term
protection and restoration of the Mono Lake ecosystem.
General information on Mono Lake is available, as well as
detailed displays on Mono Lake's political history and
the current efforts of the Mono Lake Committee. A free 20
minute slide show of the Mono Lake Story is shown. The bookstore offers a comprehensive
selection of books on natural and local history,
indigenous peoples, and environmental writing. Also for
sale are t-shirts, and one of the largest selections of
maps in the Eastern Sierra. Copier, fax, digital
photo download, cd burning, and internet
access are available for a fee. For more information on
