For the Mono Lake Committee's Websites
The 2007-2008 revision of the Mono Lake Website was undertaken by a team composed of half the MLC staff and independent contractors Mike Klapp (Flash homepage), Michael Fitzgibbon (PHP Single Sign On), Convio, RMT, and others.

These Websites are maintained mostly by Information Specialist Greg Reis with help from the rest of the MLC staff. Russell Bell volunteers his time to help us with our Unix server and other technical details. Education Director Bartshe Miller maintains and updates the Mono Basin Bird Chautauqua Website.
The initial Website was originally developed by Juliet Landa, in the winter of 1995-96, going live in spring 1996 when supporter Karen Rogers contributed Clarity Internet Services. Wendy Stanford and Geoff McQuilkin continued to develop the site throughout 1996. Its current structure started with the content from that site and was created in 1997 by Geoff McQuilkin, Greg Reis, and Mike Klapp.
Prior to 1999 Mike Klapp created most of the graphics and all of the Flash Movies on the site, Greg Reis did almost everything else, and Geoff McQuilkin provided oversight, direction, technical support, and ideas. Text was compiled mostly from MLC materials.
Prior to 2008 we used Microsoft Frontpage. Currently we use Adobe Dreamweaver. They both have plenty of bugs and quirks, advantages and disadvantages.
Mono Lake Live, one of our most popular sections, was introduced in early 1998, and Bartshe Miller rewrote the Natural History section in fall 1998. Our Mono Lake Committee Members Only Section was launched in March 1999, with most of the PHP programming done by Geoff McQuilkin. This section was replaced by Convio in 2008.
Our dedicated Web server (for non-Convio content) is hosted by Hostgator using 100% wind power.
